Thomas Edward “Blue Goose” Hughes, 84, of Center, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Center, Texas, surrounded by family. Mr. Hughes was born on August 11, 1941, in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. He served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965 and did a world tour on the USS Enterprise and became a US citizen in 1964.
Funeral mass will be held at 11AM at Saint Therése Catholic Church on February 7, 2026.
Thomas married Frances Bray on February 5, 1966, at Saint Pius V Catholic Church in Pasadena, Texas. They were married almost 60 years. Thomas’s hobbies included ranching and donating his time to St. Therése Catholic Church where he served as an Acolyte and a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents Ethel and George Hughes; brother, Gary Hughes; and son, George Thomas Hughes.
Serving as pallbearers are Mauricio Rojas-Solis, Blake Hughes, Courtland Pelt, Van Hien Tran, Scott Baldwin, and Michael Hughes.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Saint Therése Catholic Church, 717 FM 2974, Center, Texas.
