Penny Ann Folsom

Penny Ann Folsom, 64, of Huxley, Texas, passed away on February 16, 2023, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on July 15, 1958, in Martinez, California, to the late Paul Defrates and Margaret Cox Defrates. 

Celebration of life will be held on March 4, 2023, at 11:00AM at Mt Union Freewill Baptist Church, 7509 Camp Tonkawa Rd., Garrison, Texas, with Bro. Kenneth Rector and Bro. Ronnie Luman officiating. 

Penny was born and raised in Martinez, California.  She and her son, David, moved to Texas in 1982.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Penny enjoyed sewing, spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking and bird watching. She enjoyed watching The Wizard of Oz, Disney movies and old black and white movies as well. She was known for her amazing cookies. Her contagious smile and nurturing kindness were things that made her who she was. Penny was a member of Mt. Union Freewill Baptist Church in Garrison.

She is survived by her son, David Rohrenback and wife Kenna; daughter, Jenifer Williams and husband Gary “Sterlin”; ex-husband, Gene Folsom; special friend, John Wright; brothers, David Defrates, Paul Defrates; grandchildren, Sadie, Otto, Dyani Rohrenback; Hailley Williams Byrd, Tyler Williams, Austin Williams, Savana Williams, Gracie Dean; great grandchildren, Dhalton Byrd, Aubrie Byrd, Tinsley Byrd; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.

Penny is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Margaret Defrates; and daughter, Katie Folsom Dean.
