Mildred G. Ashby

Mildred G. Ashby, 92, of Center, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Pine Crest Assisted Living in Lufkin, Texas. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Karen Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Duncan Cemetery in Carlisle. Visitation will be prior to the service starting at 1:30 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel. She was born August 23, 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Joseph Thomas and Mary (Sowinski) Szulta. She worked as the secretary for the superintendent for Center ISD for many years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Reading Club from 1989 to present, where she served as the president from 1995 to 1997. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Center where she was the youth director and she was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Joseph and Mary Szulta, Husband, Aubrey H. Ashby, Son, John Ashby, Granddaughter, April McGill and Sister, Florence Funk. She is survived by: Daughter & Son-in-law: Diana & Neilson Davis of Shelbyville Daughter-in-law: Sue Ashby of Georgetown Grandson: Larry Shoults, Jr. of Shelbyville Granddaughter: Shannon Griese & husband, Mark of Las Vegas Grandson: J.W.
