Madge Nece (Luman) Metcalf

Madge Nece (Luman) Metcalf, 90, of Houston, Texas, passed away on April 14, 2022 in Houston, Texas.  She was born on December 8, 1931, in Patroon, Shelby County Texas, to the late John Lum Luman and Dollie Mae Metcalf Luman. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Mangum Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rather Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Mangum Funeral Home.

Madge was raised in Shelby County. She met the love of her life, D.M. Metcalf and they were married on April 13, 1947.  They spent more than 40 years together before his passing in 1987, raising three wonderful children.  Madge was as excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed quilting.  Madge played the piano at many churches through the years.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family. 

Madge is survived by her son Doyle Metcalf Jr. and wife Ruby of San Augustine, Texas; daughter, Kathy Metcalf of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, John Bryan Metcalf and wife Deanna, Jennifer Metcalf Jones and husband Troy, Jack D. Pound Jr.; great grandchildren, Kalie Harkness McSwain and husband Torin, Alex Jones and Summer, Sam Jones, Allie Jones, Shelby Pound, Jackson Pound, Anna Metcalf, John Baxter Metcalf; great-great grandchildren, Kaicin McSwain, Jaxon Jones; and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.

Madge is preceded in death by her loving husband, Doyle Metcalf; daughter, Linda Faye Metcalf; parents, Lum and Dollie Luman; brothers, Fred Luman and wife Myra; Kasey Luman; sisters, Bernice Ford and Martha McCary.

Pallbearers serving will be Bryan Metcalf, Jack D. Pound, Alex Jones, Sam Jones, Jackson Pound, and Dillon Searcy.
