Johnny Ray Shumway, 65, of Joaquin, Texas, passed away on September 13, 2017 in Joaquin. He was born on March 16, 1952 in Houston, Texas to Emmitt Johnny Shumway and Francis Louise Pate Shumway. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Johnny grew up in Conroe, Texas where he graduated from Conroe High School. After graduation, he moved to Florida where he remained for over twenty years working as a truck driver. Later, he moved back to Joaquin to be closer to family and friends in the area. Johnny's favorite thing of all was spending time with his son. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football. He also treasured the moments spent with his family.
Johnny is survived by his son, Johnny Ray Shumway, Jr. of Joaquin and his brother, Guy Shumway and wife, Debbie of Joaquin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt Johnny Shumway and Francis Pate Shumway; brother, Lionel Shumway; and sisters LaQuida Shumway and Belinda Day.
