Jimmy Hagler Obituary

 

Jimmy Dale Hagler, 72, of Center, Texas, passed away on January 27, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born on December 30, 1950, in Center, Texas, to the late L.E. Hagler and Alice Wiggins Hagler. 

Funeral service will be held at Mangum Funeral Home, on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 2pm with Bro. David Mathis officiating.  Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.

Jimmy was born and raised in Shelby County. He graduated from Center High School in 1969. Jimmy continued his education at Stephen F. Austin State University where he focused on Computer Science. He and high school sweetheart, Kathy Waller, were joined in marriage on January 31, 1976. They had a wonderful son, Heath. You could find Jimmy for many years at H & S Grocery. He and Kathy co-owned and operated it with his brother Wayne Hagler until they retired in 2020.  Jimmy was a devoted father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed the outdoors. Fishing and traveling are just a couple of things Jimmy liked to do in his spare time. He also liked going to the beach. Jimmy was a very logical thinking individual. He loved playing chess and solving problems especially in the area of mathematics. His most precious time was spent with his son, Heath, and his grandchildren, Aidan and Anna. His family was most precious to him and enjoyed making memories with them.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Hagler; son, Heath Hagler and wife Collean; brother, Wayne Hagler; sister, Barbara Prince and husband Richard; grandchildren, Aidan Hagler, Anna Hagler; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, L.E. and Alice Hagler.

Pallbearers serving will be Joel Waller, David Brittain, Darrell Williams, Steven Andrusick, Ken Vick, and Cam McElroy.

Honorary pallbearers are Bert Vick, Aidan Hagler, Ian Williams, Nathan Cole, Shawn Hagler, Brian Adams, and Mark Leach.
