Jessie Smith

Jessie Salter Smith was born on July 21, 1938 in Whitney, Texas the daughter of Jessie and Freida Salter.  Mrs. Smith passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 in Shelbyville, Texas. 

Jessie was very devoted to her Christ and Savior and found immense pleasure in being the daughter of a King.  Her devotion led her to membership at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and her life was centered around having her name written down in glory.  She appreciated being outside and took extraordinary pride in keeping her yard pristine for as long as she was able.  When she was not outside enjoying the beauty of God’s creations, she spoiled herself by watching episodes of General Hospital.  In addition to the many other things she experienced in life, she was honored to have been a dispatcher, taking particular care to help ensure the safety of those who protect others.  Jessie had a great love of family.  She smiled with joy and was happiest when surrounded by those closest to her. 

Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Tony Smith & wife, Darlene, Charlie Smith & wife, Kathy and Michael Smith; daughters, Kathy Holloway & husband, Mitch and Paula Lout & husband, Jimmy; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; and brother, Ronnie Salter & wife, Carmen.  She was also blessed to have a God-sent daughter, Danielle Frazier.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
