Helen Virginia “Ginny” Blount, 64, of Joaquin, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Joaquin, Texas. She was born on July 26, 1960, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Funeral service will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Word of Faith Church, 12413 US Hwy 84E, Joaquin, Texas, with Bro. Haagon Lister officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery.
A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at noon on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Word of Faith Church, Joaquin, Texas.
Ginny Blount grew up in Longstreet, Louisiana, and graduated from Logansport High School. Upon graduation, she received a full scholarship to Louisiana Tech University. In the fall of 1978, she met the love of her life, Ricky Blount. They were married on February 6, 1979, and were blessed with three children: Alaina Claire, Camille Elizabeth, and Lewis Basil. Their journey together has spanned over 45 wonderful years.
Ginny later completed her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at Stephen F. Austin State University. She taught math at Joaquin Junior High School during the 2007-2008 school year, where she earned the prestigious Teacher of the Year award in her very first year of teaching. Subsequently, she returned to Ricky’s side at the salon, cherishing her time with her husband and beloved clients.
Ginny’s life was a testament to her love for people. Whether she was in the classroom or at the salon, being around her meant experiencing genuine, heartfelt love. Known for her kind and compassionate nature, Ginny cherished her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She welcomed two more children, Scott and Bryn, into her heart when Camille and Lewis married, loving them as her own.
Ginny also had a passion for cooking and preparing meals for her family, never missing an opportunity to watch her beloved Dallas Cowboys play football. She was an avid Cowboys fan through and through.

Ginny will be missed by many friends and family that knew her.
Ginny is preceded in death by her daughter, Alaina Claire Blount; father, Robert Hooper; parents, John B. Timmons and Joyce Timmons; father and mother-in law, Eugene Blount and Bernice Elizabeth Blount; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Quayhagen.
Pallbearers serving will be Scott Stanfield, Jeremy Martin, Donnie Martin, Gene Blount, Phinis Morgan, and Ronnie Blount.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Morgan, Kevin Blount, Keith Blount, Robert Quayhagen, and John Quayhagen.
