Betty Parker Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Williams Parker, 88, of Center, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, surrounded by loved ones in her home.  She was born on August 17, 1933 in Mansfield, Louisiana to the late Emmett Claude Williams Sr. and Reba Moorman Williams.  Funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 2PM at Mangum Funeral Home, Center, Texas, with Bro. Gordon Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.

Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1PM at Mangum Funeral Home, Center, Texas.

From childhood, Betty was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She went on to play the piano and become a choir member. She was the wife of the late Donell Parker. Together, they shared 68 years of marriage and a treasure trove of memories.

Betty loved gospel music and also sang in The Gospel Airs Quartet. She, along with many cherished friends, dedicated their time and talents to the Shelby County Singing Convention. Betty worked at several dress shops and a local bookstore. Most important of all, she raised her family to the best of her ability with a heart filled with prayer in hopes that her family would remember to put God first.

She is survived by two sons, Donald Parker and wife, Kelly, Michael Parker and wife, Monica, daughter-in-law, Darlene Brymer, a sister, Yvonne Jackson, nine grandchildren: Andrew Brymer (Amber), Cole Parker (Brittany), Timothy Parker (Emily), Whitney Rice (Matt), Alex Parker (Lyssa), Laeken Parker, Mackenzie Parker, Kristi Thibodeaux (Scott), Derrick Suarez (Theresa), and great-grandchildren: Logan, Bronson, Ethan, Abel, soon to be born, Kovy, Carson, Case, Mason, Colin, Sophie, Mila, Beckham, Connor, Adrienne, Eleanor, Liliana.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Donell Parker, parents Emmett Claude Williams, Sr. and Reba Moorman Williams, a sister, Christine Williams Stumpf, a brother, Emmett Claude Williams, Jr., a son, David Brymer, and a grandson, Jacob Brymer.

Pallbearers serving will be Timothy Parker, Carson Parker, Cole Parker, Derrick Suarez, Scott Thibodeaux, and Connor Thibodeaux. 

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Cindy Webb, devoted caregiver and friend, for the excellent care she provided our mama, our Granny, Betty.
